Bob Tholkes of Minneapolis, Minnesota, founded the Quickstep Base Ball Club, the first in Minnesota, in 1994 as an outlet for the baseball energies of the members of the Halsey Hall chapter of SABR, and operated the club until retiring from vintage ball after the 2013 season. The club plays by the rules of 1860. Bob began collecting contemporary sources on amateur era (through the 1865 season) in 2009, and with Richard Hershberger has amassed, and shared with fellow researchers, files on all major known sources not available online. Bob served three years as VBBA historian. He has been a SABR member since 1978, and has written several articles for SABR publications and for the early baseball journal Base Ball. Bob retired in 2012 from Target Corporation.
