Genesee Country Village’s vintage base ball program was formed based on four teams active during the 19th-century in Rochester, NY. The teams play by rules drawn from the 1866 Convention of the National Association of Base Ball Players. In 2001, the village built a reproduction of a 19th-century base ball park and named it Silver Base Ball Park. This facility is located adjacent to the historic village and includes five bleacher sections (one covered), a tallykeeper’s perch, a refreshment stand, and special seating for the press and unattended ladies. The teams play each weekend, July - early October. In August of 2003, the village hosted the first National Silver Ball Tournament, featuring 14 teams playing 26 games over three days.

The village interprets womens’ play of the national pastime with two teams. The first is inspired by the barnstorming tradition of ladies’ base ball - brought to life here by Priscilla Porter’s Astonishing Ladies Base Ball Club. The second is a group of village residents who come together for love of the game, and it is named the Brooks Grove Belles, after the town that was home to three of the buildings now found in the museum’s historic village.
