2003 VBBA Photo Gallery

Photo which is described in caption.
In this photo, “Delaware Dave” of the Roosters of Rochester, Minnesota illustrates one of the more difficult offensive plays of 1860 rules base ball in a game against the new La Crosse Loose and Careless Base Ball Club. He could bear down and overrun the first base, but unlike modern rules, he could still be put out. Otherwise, in the attempt to reach the first base base in time he could “stop on a dime,” but not every player is up to it. Tending the first base for the Loose and Careless is Bill “One Eye” Pritchard. University of Wisconsin-La Crosse campus, La Crosse, Wisconsin. July 12, 2003.
